  4. Origins of the German baroque opera and the Goose Market Theatre in Hamburg in the seventeenth and eighteenth Centuries

Abstract: this article presents the ways of assimilation of the gender “opera” by the german culture in the middle of the seventeenth century and how the local culture influenced contemporary standards, to say: the Florentine, the Venetian and the French operatic styles. Besides, it tries to show the diffusion of opera in the German territories and more specifically, to emphasize the importance of the opening of the Theater am Gänsemarkt (Goose Market Theater) in Hamburg, 1678, as a culmination of this process.
